SF 2 Year Old Sunflower
This week the children have been very busy with outside play, learning about quantities using different tools and textures. They have used liquids by adding them to sand and flour to observe them change. Following the children’s interest they used different kinds of containers too, filling, emptying and independently pouring, using lots of new mathematical skills and words too. Indoors children made some lovely symmetrical shape patterns using different craft materials and learnt all about the corners and sides of shapes too.
Our theme of the week has been under the sea with arctic animals and the children ha e loved exploring our sensory trays with lots of different colourful ice and water, and have sung some new songs. Some children had the confidence to sing songs on their own during carpet time to their friends. They learnt some new moves during yoga and had lots of fun doing physical challenges too, such as spinning, hopping, shrugging shoulders, nodding heads.
In our home corner area the children have enjoyed making lots of lists pretending to go to the shops or using their imagination to have a café. Hot chocolate was very popular and it’s great to her the children chattering happily about special experiences from outside the setting.
Also the children have liked learning about the Northern Lights and recreated them using shaving foam and adding different paint and it’s a great Interest for our little ones they are very curious about all things space related and it would be a great opportunity for yourselves to learn about this with your children at home too.
We are very excited to see all our special people for our stay and play mornings next week. Next week we will be learning about Africa and our story will be “Handa’s Surprise”.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
The Sunflower Team.
